Automatically receive e-mails letting you know when your Internet connection has dropped with log information that you can provide to your service provider to assist in determining what is causing the issue. The @Pi 3 Syslog Capture solution is easily configured to capture the information from any device that can be configured to send syslog information.
To see if your Internet modem can send syslog information, log into your modem and look for a setting similar to the following. If you have that setting, this device can be configured to automatically capture that information and e-mail you the information every hour. The e-mails can be filtered to folders to help you quickly see if you have had a drop, an IP change, or if everything is working as it should. The information is also maintained on the device itself for 100 days in case it is needed at a later time.
